Invisalign
Teeth aligners that bring out the best of your smile discreetly
Invisalign® aligners move teeth through a series of carefully controlled movements. Unlike traditional braces, the Invisalign system allows use to visualise what your smile will look like before starting treatment and allows us to control the speed and amount of movement of each tooth. Not only are Invisalign® aligners efficient, they are also clear, meaning they are more discreet compared other alignment treatments.
What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® are custom made clear aligners that help gradually to straighten your teeth. These clear aligners are virtually invisible and use a patented thermoplastic material SmartTrack created exclusively for Invisalign® treatment. Our advanced 3D computer-imaging technology will show you your complete treatment plan from the initial position of your teeth towards the final desired position. Then a series of clear aligners are custom-made for your teeth to move them safely. These clear transparent aligners are removable as each aligner is worn all day and only removed to eat or to have very hot drinks. Each aligner in the series is worn for between 1 week to 10 days before being replaced by the next one in the series, gradually moving towards the projected final position. The treatment time depends on your specific needs and the complexity of the case.
How long does the Invisalign® treatment take?
The time taken depends on the complexity of the treatment and is generally comparable to that of traditional braces. This will also be dependent on the patient’s commitment to the treatment in ensuring the aligners are worn for the desired 22hrs/day.
Do I need to wear my retainer after treatment?
After completing your Invisalign® treatment, you should still continue to wear your retainer as recommended by your dentist. Typically we recommend wearing your retainer when you go to bed.
If you do not wear your retainer regularly, you will risk your teeth moving back, and undoing all of the work.
“Wear your retainers for as long as you want straight teeth”
Is Invisalign® painful?
Invisalign® trays themselves are not painful. It is to be expected that there might be slight discomfort when first using them, due to your teeth being moved.
